Student Jamie Danow, right, 28, looks on as Irvin Cardenas, second from right, 22, controls a TeleBot, which combines telepresence and robotics, with sensors placed around his body, during a demonstration at Florida International University.
Research is being going on to bring Robocop in real life, by Undergraduate students from Florida international university's Discovery Lab. Though the robot is in initial phase of its development.
Though the implications are enormous and could help disabled police officers and military personal by serving as patrol police.
Built from scratch, Telebot functions via an Oculus Rift headset, a motion-tracking vest, arm bands and gloves — all worn by a remote person. The headset gives that person a live-feed of the robot’s field of vision while the vest relays movements to the robot. The motion-sensing gloves control robot’s hands.
